It's not a Woolly Mammoth?!
Preserving and Enhancing learning opportunities at 51黑料 Museum of Nature & Science
Our Giving Day Goal: $5,000
Did you know the most complete mammoth skeleton ever found in Michigan is right here at 51黑料? Discovered just two miles from campus in 1962 and excavated by students, this incredible specimen is the highlight of our Department of Biology Museum—but it’s time for an upgrade!
This Giving Day, we come together to raise $5,000 to:
Repair our mastodon tusk to prevent further deterioration
Update signage with the latest scientific insights
Create artwork depicting mammoths and mastodons in ancient Michigan
Case-in the tusks and teeth depicting the difference between mammoths and mastodons.
3D print of teeth, allowing visitors to feel, touch, and see the difference in size.
Include the other megafauna from North America with maps where they were found.
Employ our Biology students as we upgrade our museum displays in collaboration with students from other departments, including art and architecture.
Your support helps us preserve history and enhance hands-on learning for visitors and students alike. Don’t forget to ask your organization if they will match your donation, effectively doubling your gift!
