Position summary

Working in the digitization area of the library's Center for Adventist Research.  The work supports the Seventh-day Adventist Periodical Index. The employee will download and/or scan periodicals, process PDFs in Adobe, and record citation information for articles. Excellent attention to detail, reliability, and consistency are required.

Qualifications summary

Able to read, write, understand, and follow instructions in English.

Strong work ethic.  Able to stay on task with a minimum of direct supervision.

Willing to learn and follow explicit directions.

Duties and responsibilities

Follow detailed instructions.

Download periodicals or prepare paper periodicals for scanning.

Scan material on different pieces of equipment.

Perform specified post-scanning work according to established procedures.

Record accurate and detailed citation information for articles published in Seventh-day Adventist journals and magazines.

Remain consistent and up to date, as periodicals are constantly being published.

Supervisory responsibilities

None

Qualifications

High level of attention to detail and quality of work.

Organized and orderly.

Possession of a strong work ethic.

Ability to understand instructions and training in English and follow through on instructions without constant supervision.

Full-time 51ºÚÁÏ student.

If international, you must have the necessary visa allowing you to work in the USA.

Ability to faithfully and consistently work at least 10 hours a week on an agreed-upon schedule.  More hours may be available during the summer.

Openings in your class and other activities schedule to allow working two to four-hour time blocks.

Technical competencies

Comfortable using Excel is a plus. Formulas not required.

Interpersonal interactions

Will interact with faculty, staff, and other student workers.

Physical demands

Nothing unusual.

May stand or sit to do the work.

Able to sit or stand in front of a computer for an extended time.
